About Joanna

Joanna is running for Council to ensure North Cowichan remains a vibrant and inclusive community, as outlined in the Official Community Plan. She cares deeply about this community and will work hard to represent your voice and bring a new, fresh perspective to North Cowichan Council.

 

Joanna is an experienced educator, having worked at the School District and at Vancouver Island University (Cowichan Campus). Joanna is also an elected labour leader with the BC General Employees Union with years of governance experience. She has a deep understanding of the issues facing North Cowichan residents, having helped many while working for former MP Jean Crowder.​​

Joanna is a long-time resident of North Cowichan, where she lives with her partner. She cares deeply about this community, and has been actively involved in various initiatives, including advocating for childcare, adult education, affordable housing, and environmental clean-ups.

Joanna, her partner, her parents and her son and his girlfriend all live in North Cowichan. In her spare time, Joanna enjoys hiking and biking in our spectacular recreational areas. Gardening and enjoying the ocean are also passions of hers.​​
